The Collier Classification System for Very Small Objects

The Traveling Museum of Very Small Objects is a new, scalable version of the project designed to travel from place to place on an ongoing basis. The project, originally designed as open-ended and evolving, relies on public collaboration. This means it is best suited for a nomadic life. To facilitate this new direction, in 2019 Brian D Collier designed and built a new custom cherry wood cabinet as a central grounding object of the Traveling Museum and to house the entire Master Collection of Very Small Object Specimens. There is also room for modular expansion as new objects are added to the collection. The Master Collection Cabinet, as the central element, is accompanied by naming and submission stations, framed large format pigment prints of selected specimens, the handmade master collection catalog and other artifacts from the project. All these elements are scalable for display in small to large exhibition venues. We are currently in conversation with venues around the U.S. and abroad to begin this nomadic journey. We invite proposals for exhibition venues and are open to a wide range of possibilities. Updates will be posted on the exhibitions page of this site. Please contact us with questions or comments.
